Pray for God’s direction in this opportunity to combine your Christian faith with your nursing knowledge and skills to benefit other people. Then inform yourself about the FCN role and discuss that information with key leaders and other health professionals in your church. Continue praying
To practise as an FCN you must hold current and condition free registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) www.ahpra.gov.au. Ideally, you will have more than 3 years clinical experience and a genuine faith in, and love for Jesus, which will sustain you and others you work with.
You also need additional training to prepare for this specialist role and its autonomous nursing practice such as completing the internationally recognised Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course. AFCNA and a number of other education providers across Australia and internationally host this course.
Next course starts Semester 1, 2021
What next steps should I take to start?
To further pursue the FCN role, enrol in the international core curriculum ‘Foundations of Faith Community Nursing’ course offered by AFCNA.
If you would like help to present the concept of health and pastoral care ministry and the specific role of Faith Community Nursing to your local church, contact AFCNA and we will help you.
