 Why spiritual care?

Lets start from the premise that we are whole persons incorporating many dimensions, including our body, mind and spirit. Caring for the spirit includes ways of being and ways of doing with/for another person that promote hope, compassion, connection and meaning for life’s journey.

‘”...in health care we join people on their life journey and for a time we travel with them. We need to understand better who they are and how we can work with them as partners on that journey. Central to this is the understanding of them as individuals who have many dimensions, including a spiritual one.” Sarah Mullally, former Chief Nursing Officer, UK NHS (2004)
